My Little City Blog

Nights and days pass in Gotham. Each area is distinct and posing its own reality…coffee shop, pizza parlor, and dry cleaners…all the same but different…in that they create many different realities. This blog is my reality.

A Few Pictures

This picture is one of my favorites even if I look like a dork. This is Maudie in her I'm so embarrassed pose. I'm not sure what I told her to make her get as such...wink! Miss you Maudie!

RUBY!! It has been a while since I have spoken to Ruby but she is my favorite artist in the whole world. This is a picture we took together when we crossed paths some time ago. So funny how the world is. One day you are hanging with your buddy in undergrad and the next moment she is some big artist.

Pinky and me at her graduation. It was a good time and this is a good picture of us. Sure this picture was taken about 2 years ago and not that recent...but I thought I would post it anyways...nuff said.

Guns. Nuff said.

This is one of my favorite pictures. Serious, this is my sister taking some target practice. We use to shoot a Bow and Arrow back in the day as kids. Of course the equipment she uses now is much better. But as odd as this may seem to some, my sister taught me about hunting and living off the land. I'm not sure if I should say this here because I don't want to scare anyone, but my sister is pretty handy with the steel if you know what I mean.

Sahar! Another old friend from UCLA who was in the city the other night. What can I say, Sahar is one of the most interesting people you will ever meet. She is smart, well read, and just a good hearted person. We have managed to keep in touch all these years and I still very much hold her in high regard which says something about this girl.

This picture was sent by one of my loyal readers, Camille Salas...what up, Camille. This picture was not altered or anything. This really did take place down in Texas. Word!

Chillin In The Office

Here are a few pictures of me in the office. The first picture is of me in on the weekend. Notice that I'm rocking them dope gem Adidas.

Second picture is of me today. Yep, needed to post a picture of me all relaxed and rested from my trip to HERE that is just the way I roll. If you don't know, now you know. But in all honesty, I wanted to thank John "The General" Lee and Frank "The Damn Yankee" Walsh for the invite down. It was nice spending time with you two MOFO's.

One of my cool boots that Pinky bought me for my birthday. Church! I try to sport these as much as possible. They can function as going out shoes also...double the function for the price of one...CHURCH!

Pinky's Birthday Last Week!!

I haven't had time to write about Pinky's birthday party and I probably should have done so the night of. Yet, I didn't so here I am doing as such now.

This the first party for Anita that I haven't planned in some years and I must admit, it was a bit strange but I thought she did a great job in her invite list, evite card choice and also her super cool follow up letter.

I think when you invite a small amount of people to your party and they all show that should give you a good understanding of the light people hold you in. So it was no surprise to me that just about every single person that Anita invited showed. I suppose the one thing that I don't say enough so I shall say it here:

Anita,

You are a great friend and I'm sure everyone who attended your party would agree. Your heart is probably the only thing that can outshine your magical smile and I wish you continued success at your job and in your life. You have been my best friend for so many years that I can't list the ways you have helped me become a better person who is a bit more calm and understanding. So this little write up falls short in terms of length and substance to what I owe your friendship. Yet, I feel if anyone can read between the lines as to what I mean it is you. So happy birthday, Cucks and may this year be the best one yet.

Photo Dump

Of course there has to be a picture of Rey "El Rey" Contreras in this picture dump. A good shot of Rey and Alina with her new cool hairdo.

This picture is for Derek over at poker in the weeds. Viva Hulkamaniacs!! On a side note, was there anyone bigger than the Hulkster back in the 80's? How many athletes can say they could sell out a whole Stadium night after night with everyone wearing his/her shirt? Serious?

Although it says that one shouldn't ride between the cars...well I would have to disagree in three instances. One, there you get caught in a car with no air conditioning (which should never happen because you should take note that there is nobody in the car) this happens from time to time and you should move to the next car. Two, you get stuck in a car with a homeless guy who has passed out and done his business in that car. Three, you had a long night with the boys/girls and you get sick on the ride and need to hurl.

This is a classic picture that most people take when they are in Grand Central. Most people will say, I will meet you at the clock in Grand Central and it is understood that this is the clock....there is another clock which is similar which is downstairs but this is the one that people mean.

This picture is just something I took at the crab festival that John "The General" Lee and myself went to in Long Island City. It was a good time and the crabs were tasty.

Took this picture in the .99 cent store in Chinatown.

Rey "El Rey" Contreras and I went to have Sushi and this was our beer of choice. Hey, you can't go wrong at a Sushi place that has 1/2 price off all drinks or two for one...Sweet!!

This is a picture of Rey "El Rey" Contreras who took a picture with Flo who was in from Italy. Twas good times hanging with Flo during her visit.

A painting of "The Boys"...Nuff said!

A picture of "Poncho" The Texas Armadillo! There are a few things you should know about Poncho. First, that he really was bought in Texas by Adri and it was given to me as a gift. Second, Poncho really is Catholic as his chain indicates. Three, Poncho will surprise you in many ways...if you come back to this blog again you will see why.

I never thought I would see the day...but the N&R (which I say stands for Never Runs) have new trains. Thus, I took a picture for all to see.

MORENO ON TV!!!!!

I don't like to gas my friends such as Robyn...but I will do as such for you, my thousands or readers...cough!cough! In any case, I remember when Robyn arrived to NYC and had just taken a job with Latina Magazine...my times have changed (I'm proud of you Robyn). In any case, if you want to see the clip with her giving Roker ways to shop. Oh, I thought it was funny how Robyn was giving tips on how to shop for kids when she doesn't have any...humor. In any case, here is the clip of one of the nicest girls around...Click Here

Photo Dump?

Adri with the Asian peace sign.

This was a nice bottle of Tequila provided by none other than Derek. As Derek would say, Viva La Tequila....crush!

I think that I posted this picture with the Julie in the past. But if not or if I did...well there is nothing wrong with a double post of Julie. Joaquin calls for Julie circa 2000...please!!!

Zo and his futre wife...she is just so pretty and Zo is one lucky Mofo because not only is she pretty but his lady has so much class. Dallas in Dec for Zo and Elvira's wedding...book it!

This is my jersey for when I tried out for the Mexican National soccer team. Didn't make the squad but I gave it a go.

Speaking of people getting married. This picture was taken of two very super cool people who were nice enough to invite me to their home for dinner and drinks. I can't say too much here but they are getting married soon and I'm not sure how this guy got so lucky. Whit and Bob...wish you two the best! I loved the dancing in the living room...Crush!

This is a picture of the dinner party. Good people and good conversation.

Wilmot Mwandanda at his new bar, The Space. Crush! I'm so happy that Wilmot opened his own place. Serious, Wilmot is one of those guys that just worked hard and saved and was able to venture off on his own. So very happy and proud to call him a friend. Here is the linke to THE SPACE

This is a picture of me and my cousin, Lupini. It was so fun hosting Lupini when she came from Mexico. I really can't wait till she comes back! Prima...te estoy esperando aqui en Nueva York...ya sabes que aqui tienes tu casa. Un gran abrazo de tu primo, Joaquin.

Break dancers, yo! This break dancing competition just broke out of nowhere. It was fun and a great party. Church!!

New Picture Dump
