My Little City Blog

Nights and days pass in Gotham. Each area is distinct and posing its own reality…coffee shop, pizza parlor, and dry cleaners…all the same but different…in that they create many different realities. This blog is my reality.

ATL. visit

I have some trip reports to put up but I’m way behind on my city blog. I suppose now that the computer is up and running in my room it will be much better and easier for me to keep up with all that’s going on. Thus, my many small following of readers can enjoy the virtues of me running wild.

I suppose I shall catch you up on the Atlanta trip. Oh what can I say about the trip besides it was a ball of fun. Upon arrival I got to visit the MARTA Station. The MARTA is the Atlanta equivalent of the NYC subway. Yet, to be honest, I would take the NYC subway over any other form of transportation. I suppose I’m a bit biased on this one, but I’m just being honest. I love the NYC subway…except those times you are really drunk and end up on the last stop in the Bronx. But those of us from NYC all have one of those stories. Oh, one time I ended up in Coney Island many years ago and that story is for another time, only if I had a blog back then I could have filled you in.

So I get in Anita’s car and we are off to see the hot spots of Hotlanta. I was trying to think of what I wanted to do on my visit and the first thing was barbeque. But this trip was about getting out of the city and getting some rest in and visiting “The Cucks”. Anita had a million and one stories to tell me about Atlanta and as we drove along some things were pointed out to me. It was then that I took notice that Atlanta is all strip malls. It’s rather crazy if you ask me…but I guess that’s what makes up the city…small strip mall after strip mall.

I was able to purchase a boot-leg copy of million dollar baby on the subway out to JFK. The quality was great and it only cost like five dollars. I support boot-leg. Even if I get one bad one in the future, I see it is taking from these organizations that have taken us for millions in the past…what is it now…like 12.00 dollars for a movie. So we decided to stay in and cook (which I love to do) and watch Million Dollar Baby. By the way, the quality of the movie rocked and the movie was really good.

This is how the rest of how the long weekend played out. Cooking and movies and just good quality conversation with Anita. Sometimes one needs that quality time with those and he/she has a deep and profound connection with. We went for a long walk in the park and Anita gave me her perspective on her stay in Atlanta the likes and dislikes and along the way we would point dogs out that we really liked. I always thought NYC had not too many mutts, but there are as many pure breed dogs in the Atl. The park was nice and small (it was no Central Park), but the conversation made up for the lack of space the park held. I guess being in some type of nature environment and seeing Anita being torn between the jobs the city provides and the country life she wants. Well it made me think of how funny it is that I love the city although I was raised out in the country. I don’t know, just some food for thought I suppose.

In closing, the stay was fun and I couldn’t ask for anything more. I learned a lot about the South and the mentality that plays out there on a very small scale. The people were nice and it’s a place I would love to visit again and soon.
