My Little City Blog

Nights and days pass in Gotham. Each area is distinct and posing its own reality…coffee shop, pizza parlor, and dry cleaners…all the same but different…in that they create many different realities. This blog is my reality.

Pinky Visits NYC For Work

Pinky has work to do in the city so she is crashing with me for a few days. Having Pinky in the city is a blast and never easy to satisfy the Jerseyite. Being that she's my best friend I let her get away with murder.

I do have a hip and cool place to take her tonight for Fat Tuesday which I’m sure she will enjoy. Pinky is the type who needs to hit something new everytime in the city, no such thing as staying in and reading a book.

Not sure how Pinky got into this habit of enjoying tourist crap like purchasing t-shirts with the name of the city she is visiting…errr…she tries to wear them sometimes and I have to mention how lame they are. Not trying to be mean, but when she wears a fanny-pack with it…haha! I kid.

No, tonight should be fun with some bar hopping and getting Pinky to work hung-over tomorrow…errr…haha! Better yet, it is not amateur night tonight so only I will drink.

On another note…it is Fat Tuesday so make sure and get it all in tonight. I have been cutting back on my drinking as it is so after tonight I should be completely done with the drinking….errr…I lie. But I’m going to make a good effort, but having your best friend in the whole wide world in town is the best!

Jersey Boy Now?

As I mentioned, I was in Jersey with Pinky this past weekend. We had a wonderful time just trolling. You know what trolling is, when you don’t do anything just kind of bum it all day. In other words, “loafing” is what we country folk call it.

We watched two great movies:

"Mad Hot Ballroom" and "Saving Face"

I really liked both movies but as Pinky says, “you like every movie, you aren’t objective at all.” I have to agree, I either like a movie or I don’t. But I tend to like about 98% of the movies I watch. Sorry I was just built that way. I highly suggest you watch the movies. I had some strong opinions about both, but if you don't want to know I will not point them out. O.K. I will point them out since you begged...haha! I though the main character in "Saving Face" was a bit too dramatic and over-acted in some areas. Of course Pinky disagreed with me. I also didn’t like "Mad Hot Ballroom" in the aspect that they made all the Latino kids look as if they were doomed to fail. Nuff said and you can see the movies and let me know what you think.

So of course Pinky has a tiny dog named, Corkie. To be honest, I’m really not a dog person. I am, but we always keep our dogs outside and never use to let them come in the house. So the whole concept of an indoor dog is very foreign to me and something I just don’t understand till this day. Yet, Corkie was sick so we had to do the whole late night Vet visit and stuff. It was rather drama but I think Corkie and I bonded a bit because I seen her for a sick dog, more than an indoor dog.

Of course we had our share of food. Simple Italian and some really good Indian food!!

I always enjoy my time with Pinky in the Jersey. This weekend was exceptionally fun because we got to save Corkie from her illness and watch some good movies and just loaf around.

I just wanted to thank the host if she’s reading for a great weekend.

Weekend Update

I have a rare weekend update on my city blog. Why is it an odd update, because I don’t find myself in the city but in Jersey. My goodness! How Pinky managed to convince me to visit for my three day weekend I will never know. Yet, I’m here.

Funny story, we went to some indoor flea market today here in Jersey. On our departure there was one of those sports cars with the huge wings on the back. In California we tend to attribute those cars to the Asian Kids, despite what you seen in the movie, The Fast and The Furious...Asians rule that sport in California. In any case, this car was red with a huge Louis Vuitton sticker on the hood...on the top of the front windshield they had a sticker which read, “Jersey Style”...errr..did I mention the wing on top of the factory assigned wing.

In closing, more stories to come. I just had to give you an update and something to laugh at.

NYC Bloggers

I just wanted to alert all the readers that we have a new blogger on the list to your right. AliKat. What can I say, smart girl with plenty of wit...did I mention she can write her butt off (currently in the middle of a screen play). As most of you know, I’m a hack at the keyboard when I write...but I love to promote good writers so I can say...I knew them when. Speaking of knew them when...photo of new blogger in her childhood is attached. I’m not sure I was suppose to add that...err..oh well.
